The sky was dark and bleak, but still yet the white wolf radiated in the middle of the meadow. Still frosted, the meadow sparkled with promise of great beauty in the spring. Donavette was smitten; for only the best would do for him. Freeli was next to him, also awed by the scenery. He didn't have to ask for her opinion on the matter, he already knew. They had been living on the borders between packs; which was fine as they were a very small pack. Yet, as the Donavette became alpha he wanted to grow bigger. He wanted a faction; not a pack.
While the meadow did not have as much shade as he would like, there was a large oak tree that would provide sufficient coverage. For his family, at least. He imagined himself sitting under the tree, the morning mist surrounding his pale figure. Ghastly, yet regal. The deer would be leaping near the tree line, their hooves muffled by the chittering of the morning doves. Yes, Donavette liked this place very much. It was peaceful, and peace matched with equality. Equality meant order, and order was Donavettes biggest concerns.
If Vetti did not have order, he would likely go mad. While he had immense confidence in his self and his ruling, he did not have confidence in other wolves. Others were not as smart, beautiful, or charming as he. They were more flawed: and therefor more likely to screw things up. Donavette drank from the creek, it's clear water pleasing him. "This place will be ours, Freeli. We will rule this land." he said with excitement.
"Yes, Donavette. This will be our home." she spoke with relief, her eyes misted over with an inspired shine.
"Let us get to work." For the rest of the day, and the days to come, Donavette and Freeli marked their territory with their scents. To seal the deal, Donavette and Freeli together let out one long harmonious howl. This land was theirs.
